Rates of stroke among Black Caribbean men were two-thirds higher than in the general population (age-standardised risk ratio 1.66). Indian men also had higher rates than the general population (1.42). Among women, Chinese women had low rates of stroke (risk ratio 0.29), while the other groups did not differ significantly from the general population. Source: The Health Survey of England 1999
