HEART ATTACK & STROKE

Warning signs of a heart attack:

Persistent crushing pain in centre of chest. This pain may extend to shoulders, arms, back and jaw. Often wraps around body like a vice.
Does not go away with rest
Breathing problems
Nausea and vomiting
Sweating
Pale skin
Warning signs of a stroke
Severe, intense headache
Red face
Feeling dizzy & off balance
Loss of bladder control
On set of gradual paralysis

Remember that urgent and immediate medical treatment of stroke victims within three hours of symptoms first occurring will significantly improve the person's chance of recovery.

WHAT TO DO: For both heart attack and stroke victims, keep the person comfortable and warm, loosen their clothing and do not give them anything to eat or drink. Preferably sit the person in a comfortable position. Phone 999 for an ambulance. If the person falls unconscious begin
CPR.
